Ok, so Monica and I are flip flopping back and forth as to what we should name our daughter. We thought we were set on what were going to name her. I even made a public declaration of her name (I wrote about it here). But it seems that sometimes we are being given that proverbial advice to “give the kid a chance and don’t ruin her name”. Are we that crazy that the names we have chosen for her only make sense to us? Whenever we tell someone her proposed name, we sometimes get a “that’s different” response or a blank stare. Yeah, a blank stare that says, “Huh?!?” Most people like the names we have chosen, but the blank stares we sometimes get makes us second guess ourselves.
So, in a effort to gain some common sense, I’ve decided to see what everyone thinks of the names we have also considered. As of right now, the top choice is Sirena Venezia. But we are strongly considering these two names:
Seanna. There are two reasons I love this name. First, it means “God is Gracious”; second, it seems like a suitable replacement for “Sirena” because it contains the word “Sea” which keeps the whole aspect of the sea that the name Sirena has. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you must read this.
Another name that we really like is Sofia, because we find it “sweet sounding”. It means “Wisdom”. And it goes very well with the name Sirena or Seanna.
Anyways, we are interested in knowing what you guys think, here are the choices and combinations of the names:
What should we name our daughter?
- Seanna Sofia (27%, 12 Votes)
- Sofia Sirena (23%, 10 Votes)
- Sirena Venezia (23%, 10 Votes)
- Sirena Sofia (20%, 9 Votes)
- Sofia Seanna (7%, 4 Votes)
Total Voters: 44
I think that it’s really going to come down to the wire. We really love all 4 names. When the baby is born sometime this week and the nurse gives me the paperwork to fill out, I hope I don’t blank out and put some other random name instead.
*Also, I’m going to have a live webcam at the hospital that give a live feed of the baby once she’s born so stay tuned*

Go with what is in your heart. Dont worry about any blank stares or confused looks, they obviously dont get it. Pick the name you both love, the name that you know in your heart that fits your little girl. I picked Juliana’s name pretty much as soon as I knew she was going to be a girl, I knew it in my heart that her name is Juliana Sofia….and when I saw her for the first time, she already knew her name too.
OK… I had no idea what to name any of my kids, because I’ll tell you what from the day I found out till the day I gave birth I changed there names, and If you just like it, that is fine…. If they don’t like Oh well, here lies your first roll as parents to choose for them, because we will fail in more than one (of course thru others eyes!). Anyway, I had to wait until i saw my kids and when i saw them I just knew what fit them, maybe there face, maybe my feeling… It just fits, and when I look at them now, I know I choose correctly…
With Gianni, they were kicking us out of the hospital and I still wasn’t sure if Gianni was better then John (Johnny), jajajaja… So you guys don’t need to know before, the idea of what you like is JUST PERFECT… Good Luck!
I think you should name her what ever your hearts tell you. I know I didn’t really like her middle name, but it’s your child. The names Daniel and I have chosen have meaning to us and that’s why we love them. Don’t let other people tell you otherwise.
I personally like the name Sofia Sirena but then again its your baby so you guys need to name her whatever you guys feel its in your heart. I’m sure its going to pop up in your head today. Yay I’m excited!!!
I’m surprised after all these voters read your post that any of them would vote for names that weren’t your first choice. No one but you should have a say in this…that’s my two cents…so I guess I should have a say too…ha. Good luck, go with your gut! It’s your daughter! Not every name is for everyone. This one is special just for you all.
